VLADYSLAV ZAREMBA’S PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITY THROUGH MUSIC
Abstract
The research aims to review music and pedagogical activity of the Ukrainian- Polish composer Vladyslav Zaremba in the second half of the 19th century – the early 20th century and analyze his creative heritage, which is rather pedagogically oriented, reproduces general aesthetic and educational concepts and is directed at the professionalization of musical education. Research methodology includes historical and cultural, musical and aesthetic, genreand style-oriented analysis, which made it possible to reveal the peculiarities of music and pedagogical activity of Vladyslav Zaremba in the context of developing professional musical education. The scientific value of research is rooted in highlighting pedagogical activity of Vladyslav Zaremba, justifying the principles of his music pedagogical activity, outlining the significance of his creative heritage for forming and developing professional musical education in the second half of the 19th century – the early 20th century. Conclusions.Having analysed the creative heritage of Vladyslav Zaremba, including his piano works on Ukrainian themes, vocal works on the words of T. Shevchenko and pedagogical collections, titled “Spiewnik dia naszych dziatek” (A songbook for our children), “Mały Paderewski” (Little Paderewski), the authors of the research managed to identify the author’s key pedagogical and aesthetic views, the range of genres, images, means of musical expression, the level of complexity, their didactic, cognitive, national and educational potential and also trace the development of important patterns in musical education directed towards the correspondence of musical training and education to a specific historical period and the focus on the national musical traditions.
