POLYMORPHISM AS A COMPOSITIONAL BASIS OF THE PASSION
Abstract
The actuality of this work is determined by the need to study the history and compositional features of the genre form of passions (passions) in Ukrainian musicology. The purpose of the work is to identify the polymorphism of passions as the main structural and semantic property of the genre, from its inception to our time. The research methodology is based on historical, hermeneutic approaches, on methods of comparison, induction, on genre-style analysis. The scientific novelty of the work is to identify the main genres in which the genre of passions grew; in identifying the links between those genres that had a direct impact on the passions. The study covers the period from the IV century (the time when the emergence of the musical component of the passions was preceded by the reading of the Gospel texts) to the present day. The paper emphasizes the gradual transformation of the verbal factor of the genre into verbal-musical. The paper notes how the following genres contributed to the development of passions: hymn, psalm, liturgical song, motet, cantata. Systematized genre structures that had an impact on the formation of passions, the facts of their genesis and subsequent reformatting; the tabular principle of data presentation is applied. The conclusions indicate the mobility of the genre structure of the passions: the genre changes and absorbs the signs of the time to which it belongs. A significant number of genre structures to this day indicate that the genre of passions is modern, relevant and in demand. It takes time to understand the modern Ukrainian view of the genre in the context of the stylistic evolution of musical art. Passion, as a complex of compositional qualities, has the ability to change on the basis of polymorphic organization. Due to the latter factor, musicological research opens new aspects of studying the modern composer’s vision of the genre not only in Ukrainian art, but also in the whole world culture of our millennium
